Alexa Butler

       Alexa's Picks:

In June of 2007, I started working at Beach Books. It was my Junior year summer and I'd decided to add another job to my busy schedule. Living in Seaside and going to school here, I've loved books for as far back as I can remember. Growing up I can vividly remember my mom reading The Witches by Roald Dahl. This was my favorite book growing up, not only because it was funny, but because the way my Mom read the story made it that much better. During my hectic days you can find me at one of my three jobs, at the local college, or if I'm lucky with my little brother, Grady. Working at Beach Books is one of the best jobs for me, I love reading and the girls here have become much more than co-workers, they are my nannies!

I absolutely love the Young Adult section, and its a good thing too, since the other girls like to read the other sections I get to stick to my favorites! Some of my favorite authors include Simone Elkeles, Stephenie Meyers, Cecily Von Ziegesar, Zoey Dean, Carrie Jones, and Maggie Stiefvater. A few of my favorite books include, Leaving Paradise series, Perfect Chemistry series (new one out in August!), The Lying Games, Trapped, The Deadly Little series, Need, Entice, Captivate, and so many more!

During the summer months Sam is human, but once the temperature drops he turns into a wolf. Grace & Sam share a few precious summer months, but can Sam stick it out through winter? When best friends Veronica and Dessy are accepted into a very prestigious workshop in Prague, the girls' priorities are far from the same. Dessy is trying to get over a broken heart and wants to get something from the class. Veronica on the other hand just dumped her boyfriend and plans to master another subject...boys. She gets right to work, not wasting any time on her "man wall" which includes paper cut outs of boys. Their trip is going great until their homicidal roommate wants to kill them. This is such a hilarious story. I think all girls can relate to this book to some level, just hopefully not as high as this! haha

Trapped (Hardcover)

Trapped is told through the eyes of Scotty, a high school basketball player. To be a good friend, Scotty stays at school to help Pete and Jason build a go-cart, not thinking how intense the blizzard could be. But as the day goes on, the snow keeps piling up, forcing them to stay with only a few others. Once the school's power goes out and the snow keeps coming, all hell breaks loose. The kids have to find food, water and way to get out. A modern-day Lord of the Flies.
